The beginning
Helsport is a family company established in 1951. Shortly after we developed our own sleeping bags and tent range. Helsport is proud to be seen as pioneer among developers, and for having products of highest quality.
Goal
Our goal is to develop functional and high quality equipment for protection and comfort for varying weather conditions. If you choose Helsport, we want it to contribute to more enjoyment and pleasure for you in the nature. To reach this goal, we set tough standards for ourselves to create new and improved products through continuously product development and quality improvements.
Product development
Product development has always been a highty prioritied area for us. To develop functional products of the highest quality, adjusted to the customer needs, we continue to work on the following;
* close contact and consultation with normal and extreme users
* co-operation with test and scientific institutes
* product testing under extreme conditions
* to have our own expertise in production and product development
Some highlights in product development
We are proud to show you some our innovations over the years. These products are the basis for the collection you will find on this website.
1964: Our first super light sleeping bag for extreme conditions was tested with good results during the Norwegian Himalaya expedition.
1967: We introduce our first lightweight mountaineering tent, awarded with the Norwegian Design prize.
1970: The world`s first tunnel tent was launched by Helsport in 1970!
1996: After many years of work, we introduce a completely new range of sleeping bags, and our model Alta gained the award for best 3-season sleeping bag in Norway.
1997: We introduced a new tent, Rondane, the world`s most compact and light 3 men tent.
1999: We introduce Svalbard 3, our flagship and test winner through several years. Probably the tent that has spent most time on expeditions to the North Pole.
2000: The sleeping bag Arctic Super was developed in co-operation with some arctic expeditions. Used in -55C° for weeks!!
2004: After many years of development we introduce the Helsport "Fjellduk" (the walking tent). Best result in large Norwegian test in 2004.
2004: Helsport introduce new backpack collection, with a unique carrying system.
2005: As Rondane in 1997, Fjellheimen is a sensation. We have improved the weight/volume ration by 20 %. More space, less weight.
2006: Helsport intruduces a technical clothing line. Clean and attractive design combined with the best of new technology, gives top functionality for use in the the demanding outdoor.

Helsport has equipped a large number of expeditions over many years, some of them you will find on our reference list of expeditions. By having our products tested on expeditions over an extended period of time and under extreme conditions we are given unvaluable knowledge. It has contributed to the development of functional and userfriendly solutions, and materials/ constructions that are prepared for the unexpected weather you can come across in the mountains. As you know, in the mountains the weather can rapidly deteriorate from clear skies to a heavy storm.

Buying a Helsport product, you buy lifelong service and support, and are covered by our totalguarantee, which includes:
Service: Out of our concern for the environment, we encourages long-term use of all outdoor equipment. Our service department will repair damaged products not covered by the warranty for a reasonable fee.
Spare parts: We guarantee the availablility of spare parts such as tent poles, guy lines and pegs for at least 10 years.
Warranty: All Helsport products are fully warranted for 5 years against material or workmanship defects as per the Norwegian Consumer Buying Law 2002. The warranty excludes claims due to accident, improper care, misuse, alteration, or natural breakdown of
colours and materials over extended time and use.
