Construction
Helsport insulation systems
Based on years of research and development we have developed an insulation system based on different methods.
• 1 layer system: A single layer of lightweight, high- performance thermoguard®6000 insulation for comfort in higher temperature zones.
• 2 layer system: A double layer of thermoguard®6000 insulation. Only the first layer is stitched while the second is free floating to dramatically increase its insulation characteristics.
• 4sleep® box construction: Selected Helsport sleeping bags have specially designed square sidewalls, which lift the bag around the body providing increased comfort and warmth. In addition, our form-fitting mummy shape, offer a perfect balance between comfort and warmth.
• Helsport Modular® system: A double layer of insulation throughout the whole sleeping bag with an additional layer in the areas where the body is most susceptible to heat loss, clinically proven to greatly improve warmth. The shape of the sleeping bag is also optimized for comfort in low temperatures.
• Helsport Modular® core pro: Developed for low weight. An extra layer of fiber in the upper part of the sleeping bag keeps core body parts insulated while reducing weight in the lower part of the sleeping bag.
• Helsport Modular1000® system: Based on the Modular®system, with the addition of a removable balaklava, inner fleece foot compartment and an adjustable inner cord for reduction of inner air volume.
• Fiber/down®: Insulation system developed for use in low temperatures. By combining our high performance thermoguard®6000 insulating fiber where its waterproof and decompression characteristics are most needed with a layer of natural down over the body we have harnessed the best of the two materials. Fiber/down® sleeping bags are not only warmer, but also 10% lighter.
• Down construction
Our down bags are constructed with horizontal chambers with baffles. This ensures even insulation and good loft throughout the whole bag, avoiding cold spots. The upper and lower sides have separate chambers to keep the down in place.
• Glitterheim construction: The upper and lower sides are sewn together with a wide cut for extra comfort and a roomy fit.
Pillow pocket
A pocket on the outside of the sleeping bag which is perfect for inserting a Helsport air pillow, or can be stuffed with clothing.
Zippers
Helsport uses only zippers from the world’s leading zipper manufacturer, ykk. Ykk zippers are durable, easy to use and will last the lifetime of your product. Most of our models have zippers that separate to allow left- and right-hand sleeping bags to be zipped together for increased comfort and warmth.
Form-fashioned heat trap collars
Selected Helsport models have specially designed internal collars to stop warm air from escaping through the neck area while keeping the cold out. The elastic collar is adjustable from inside the sleeping bag and will help prevent condensation inside for added comfort in cold temperatures.
Helsport compression darts®
Open closed designed for use in extreme low temperatures, 3 triangles around the hood are filled with slightly less insulation to allow for a better, tighter hood closure.
Compression bags
Our unique design ensures proper compression of your sleeping bag by allowing even, controlled compression adjustment. The water resistant bag is delivered with all of our sleeping bags. The lid protects the sleeping bag during transportation and a handle on the bottom of the bag provides a good grip when pulling out the bag. Insulating fibres may be damaged over long periods of compression, we therefore suggest you store your sleeping bag uncompressed when not in use.
